Sir Isaac Newton's Timeline
Listed below are important dates that were important changes in his life and his studies.
1642 - Birth of Isaac Newton
1654 - Enrolled in Grantham Grammar School
1661 - Newton enrolls in Trinity College, Cambridge.
1666 - Newton conducts prism experiments and discovers spectrum of light. Works out his system of "fluxions," his precursor to modern calculus and begins to consider the idea of gravity.
1670 - Newton works on his mathematics for gravitation.
1672 - Newton sends his paper on optics and prism experiments to the Society.
1684 - Newton completes calculations on gravity. Halley suggests Newton publish it.
1685 - Newton sends Propositiones de Motu to the Royal Society, outlining his findings on gravity.
1686 - Newton presents the first book of Pricinpia to Royal Society.
1687 - Publication of Pricinpia.
1693 - Newton is plagued by depression and insomnia, and suffers a nervous breakdown.
1704 - Publication of Opticks.
1713 - Second edition of Pricinpia published.
1726 - Third edition of Pricinpia published.
1727 - Death of Sir Isaac Newton.
